six appeal
This project challenges me to choose just six images which I believe symbolises, defines or represents a particular location or subject. In most cases I have taken several photos of the subject so choosing just six is the challenge. Do you have six appeal?
lydney harbour
The view of the canal with the moored boats is probably my most photographed view along with pictures across the estuary where textures are formed in ever-changing shapes by the tidal flow. The standing stone circle provides a variety of image possiblilities and the walk along the pathway above the the estuary offers some interesting views including Naas House and Sharpness. I love the 'spy hole' in the rocks which allows you to frame objects on the other side of the water.
newnham on severn
I never tire of photographing this pretty village which is steeped in history and has lots of interesting buildings and hidden gems. The main street with its dominant clock tower is remembered by everyone who passes through and the walkway along the estuary provides stunning views in both directions assisted by the ever-present telescope. The church offers some great photo opportunities from its elevated viewpoint and there's lovely views from around the Norman earthworks and Civil War grounds. The iconic letterbox is often adorned by beautifully crocheted items usually of a topical nature.
